Germany MONTBLANC Meisterstück 149 Fountain Pen
18K Gold Nib|Artist Kun-Yang Lacquer Work
“Garnet Tide”
This artwork uses the Montblanc black precious-resin 149 as the base, transformed through master artisan Kun-Yang’s hand-lacquer technique.
The red foundation represents the hidden heat within mineral veins, while the blue-green speckles resemble the faint glimmers of sea tides brushing across rock layers. This is more than a blend of colors—it is a dialogue between “solid and fluid,” where the firmness of stone meets the softness of the ocean, finding harmony in contrast.
The metallic red sheen symbolizes strength and stability, while the blue-green veins bring rhythm and movement—like seawater seeping through mineral cracks, shimmering, then receding. It is a living pulse: calm yet constantly shifting.
“Garnet Tide” seeks to express the conversation between nature and craftsmanship.
It transforms the cool texture of minerals into rippling emotions and allows the pen to reveal tide-like layers of depth under changing light. A tide, preserved in lacquer—still, yet filled with unspoken force.
Not brand new: Custom lacquered finish; all other parts remain fully functional.
The cap bands are mostly lacquered over, leaving only one gold ring visible.
Due to the thicker barrel after lacquering, the cap fits more tightly and twists with slightly more resistance.
A rare custom-lacquered Montblanc 149 paired with an original Montblanc 18K B-nib.

The thicker lacquered barrel causes a tighter fit when twisting the cap—this is normal.
Photos show only the fountain pen; other items are props.
As this is a hand-lacquered pen using natural materials, color variations, patterns, and minor lacquer lines are natural characteristics of the craft.
